Corvin John Norgren "Corky", 77, of Ashby, passed away on March 16 at Loma Linda Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Corky's memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Destiny Church in Ashby. There will be a visitation one hour prior.
Corky was born on March 31, 1948, to Russell and Lucille Norgren. He was raised in Minneapolis until 1964, when his family moved to their home on Pelican Lake in Ashby, Minnesota. He graduated from Ashby High School in 1966 and went on to serve in the United States Navy for four years.
In 1972, he married Barbara Haraldson, and they remained devoted to each other until her passing in 2004. Together, Corky and Barb built a life in Ashby, where they raised their family and created lasting memories.
Corky began his career in sales, first selling mobile homes in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He later worked for National Gypsum and concluded his career with Drywall Supply in Moorhead, Minnesota.
In his younger years, Corky enjoyed fishing trips to Canada with family and friends. He also had a passion for riding motorcycles and spent many hours on the road with friends. Known for his strong faith, Corky was a founding member of Destiny Church, where he served on the board for many years and cherished his church family deeply. His faith remained a guiding force throughout his life.
Corky will be remembered for his quick wit, warm sense of humor, and his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone.
He is survived by his children: Amy Johnson (Corey), Kelly Galvin (Patrick), and Scott Smith (Candice); seven grandchildren: Mason Johnson (Selene), Nicholas Johnson, Isabelle Galvin, Norah Galvin, Aaron Smith (Cheyenne), Evan Geiger, and Jarrett; and three great-grandchildren: Madeline and Sophie Johnson, and Logan Smith. He is also survived by his sisters: Judy Fairbanks, Joyce Robertson (Gary), Sue Risbrudt (Tom), Bonnie Norgren (Dan Morgan), and Kathy Anttila, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Norgren; his parents, Russell and Lucille Norgren; his brother, Mike Norgren; his in-laws, Ed and Lavonne Haraldson; and his great-grandson, Easton Johnson.
