Clarice Johnson

Clarice Mae Johnson, 90, of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Pioneer Care in Fergus Falls.

She was born in rural Otter Tail County on January 5, 1929, to Lewis and Mabel (Sveback) Lofthus.  She was raised and attended school in rural Otter Tail County.  She was confirmed on November 17, 1943.  On October 29, 1949, she was united in marriage to Ellsworth Duane Johnson at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.  The couple made their home in Fergus Falls where Clarice worked as a nurse’s aide at the Wright Hospital and the Pioneer Home.  Later, she worked at the Highway Host.  Ellsworth passed away on November 28, 1994.

Clarice enjoyed gardening, sewing, embroidery and doing word puzzles.  She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family.

She is survived by her daughters: Karen (Alan) Thompson of Underwood, MN and Carolyn (Dan) Gallup of Aberdeen, SD; three grandchildren: Jenna Thompson of Moorhead, MN, Robert Gallup (Ashleigh Burt) of West Des Moines, IA and Katie (Mitch) Crawford of Aberdeen, SD; two great-grandchildren: Olivia and Miles Crawford; siblings: Lillian Bednarz and Orval Lofthus, both of Detroit Lakes, MN and Evelyn Rud of Underwood, MN and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ellsworth, and siblings: Edna Foshaug, Gladys Larson and Mildred Solin.

Clarice’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Cherrywood Neighborhood at Pioneer Care for the love and care Clarice received.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service.

Funeral Service: Friday, December 13, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at the Pioneer Care Chapel in Fergus Falls.

Burial: Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Fergus Falls.
