May 12, 1952 — January 31, 2023

Battle Lake

Charlie Wayne McKnight, 70, of Battle Lake, MN, formerly of Batavia, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 31st 2023.

Charlie was born May 12th 1952, in Honolulu, HI. The son of Herbert (Wayne) and Ruby (Lorraine) McKnight. As a military family, they lived many different places before settling in the Chicago land area. He graduated from Barrington High School in 1970. On June 19th,1982 he was united in marriage to Wendy (Petschow). He worked for the Lisle Auto Plaza for 36 years before retiring to Minnesota.

Charlie brought joy to all that knew him. He had a magnetic personality and a heart of gold. His infectious smile and easy going, playful nature was sure to put a smile on anyone’s face. Charlie wore so many hats; foodie, fisherman, movie buff, music lover, biker, and die-hard Chicago Bears fan. You could always find him down on the dock taking fish off the hook, fixing tangled poles, and laughing through it all. Tractor and boat rides were a daily activity with his grandkids. On Sundays, he could be heard yelling at the Bears through the tv. His most cherished roles however were husband, brother, dad, papa, and friend. He loved his family fiercely and will be loved and missed forever.

He is survived by his wife, Wendy. Two children, Jacob (Jenna) McKnight and Ali (Dan) Scalfaro. 7 grandchildren, Ezlynn, Landon, Hudson, and Kellen McKnight. Jackson Loch, Ryleigh and Kynlee Scalfaro. One brother, Dan (Linda) McKnight of Crystal Lake, Il. One sister, Susie Perkins of Hampton Fl.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and both maternal and paternal grandparents.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
