Burton Hustad

Burton Hustad, 86 of rural Battle Lake died Saturday, December 7, 2019, at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.

Burton Keith Hustad was born on November 27, 1933, by Battle Lake, Minnesota the son of Marvin and Lillian (Olson) Hustad.  He was baptized and confirmed in Trefoldighed Lutheran Church, attended Country School in Girard Township and graduated from Battle Lake High School in 1952.  He served in the US Army, working in supplies and served in Germany.

Burt farmed, raising crops and Black Angus cattle, and was a building contractor.  He built the bakery, dentist office, clinic, post office and Carr’s Apartment building all in Battle Lake along with other area projects.  Burt played baseball with the Battle Lake Lakers Town Team.  He enjoyed walleye fishing, hunting and has a moose head displayed at the Rusty Nail.  Burt belonged to the Battle Lake Lions Club, holding membership for over forty years.  He was a member of Trefoldighed Lutheran Church and was active in the community.

He is survived by five children, Mary Levendelys, Gregory Hustad, Brian (Beth) Hustad, Jean Hustad and Jacqueline Hustad; four grandchildren, Bradley, Alexia, Hannah and Ellie; brother, Roger Hustad; and by numerous relatives and friends.

Burt was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Lillian Hustad; and by infant twins, a boy and girl.

Funeral Service: 1:00 PM, Saturday, December 14, 2019, at Trefoldighed Lutheran Church of rural Battle Lake.

Visitation: Friday from 5 to 7 PM at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Battle Lake and one hour prior at the church.
