Bonnie Hyer

Bonita Hyer, 81 of rural Ashby died Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, Minnesota.

Bonita Dorothea Hyer was born on April 2, 1935, in Golden Valley, Minnesota the daughter of James and Ella (Koefod) Fisher. She was baptized and confirmed in the Golden Valley Lutheran Church in Golden Valley and graduated from the St. Louis Park High School in St. Louis Park. Bonnie then continued her education with two years at the Hennepin Technical School in Graphic Arts and then attended three years at the MacPhail Center of Music, where she studied violin, cello and organ.

Bonnie and Richard Hyer were married on February 11, 1956, in the Golden Valley Lutheran Church. After their marriage they lived in Brooklyn Park where she was employed with FMC in drafting, they did mainly government military contracts with electronic parts for missles. Bonnie was with FMC for twenty-two years, retiring to their home on Pelican Lake by Ashby in 1987. She was a member of Christina Lake Lutheran Church where she served as organist. She really enjoyed music and art.

She is survived by two sons, David (Christie) Hyer of Rogers and Mark (Patti) Hyer of Ramsey; two grandsons, Michael (Tabitha) Hyer and Colton of Otsego and Kevin Hyer of Rogers; four sisters, Marlyn Roessel of Brooklyn Park, Mary (Michael) Walman of Carlsbad, CA., Kathleen (John) Marvin of Sierra Vista, AZ. and Helen (John) Etnier of Ashby; and by numerous relatives and friends. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ella Fisher and her husband, Richard Hyer on July 15, 2009.

Memorial Service: 1:00 PM, Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Christina Lake Lutheran Church of rural Evansville.

Visitation: one hour prior

Clergy: Rev. Ben Johnson

Interment: Christina Lake Lutheran Cemetery

Funeral Home: Glende-Nilson of Ashby.
