After a courageous journey with Alzheimer’s disease, Beverly Grace (Mann) Rydland, 88, of Battle Lake, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at her home on October 17, 2026, surrounded by her husband of 65 years, John, and her five sons.
Beverly was born in Breckenridge, Minnesota, on April 13, 1938, to Raymond and Grace (Brosh) Mann. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1956. A gifted pianist and figure skater, she later became a fitness instructor at Lady Wellness in St. Cloud and continued her passion for fitness throughout her life. She married John Allan Rydland on January 21, 1961, and raised five sons in St. Cloud, Minnesota: Mitchel John, Jeffery Mark, John Paul, Andrew Jason, and Thomas Matthew. Beverly worked as an administrative assistant for School District 742.
Beverly is survived by her husband, John; her sons and their families: Mitchel (Tina Marie) and their children, Caleb and Catherine; Jeffery (Kristie) and their children, Kyra, Mara (Hunter), and Soren; J.P. (Angela), and his children, Jake (Lilly, and their son, Lochlan), Annie, and Jack; Andrew (Amy) and their children, Alexandra, Ryan, and Siri; and Thomas (Karena) and their children, Kyrkja and Anagret; and her brother, Roger Mann.
A two-time cancer survivor, Beverly will be remembered for her love of family, her positivity, her dedication to her hobbies, and her love of the sun. She was “solar powered.” In 1958, she was crowned Miss Moorhead. Her life was filled with her family taking great pride in supporting her sons, and later her in-laws and grandchildren, as they excelled in their chosen activities, rarely missing a sporting event, rain or shine, or snow. Beverly pursued her fitness hobbies from figure skating to aerobics with the same passion even into retirement in Battle Lake, establishing and instructing a local fitness class. She loved Sunday mornings, church and the friendships there. A favorite memory shared by her sons: when the weather was cold, Beverly would come down the stairs of their St. Cloud home with a tray of natural-casing wieners and all the fixings to roast in the fireplace during Vikings games.
A funeral service will be held for Beverly on Saturday, October 24th, 2026 at 11am at First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake. Visitation will be one hour prior with burial taking place at First Lutheran Cemetery in Battle Lake immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Vivie Foundation (vivie.org/foundation).
The family is deeply grateful to the caring team at Vivie, who were essential in assisting John as her primary caregiver throughout the last 13 months of her illness. With their help and the loving support of relatives, neighbors, and friends, John gave her the gift of spending her last moments at home and in peace.
Arrangements made by Glende Nilson Funeral Home and Cremation Fergus Falls.
