Betty Lou Olson, 83, of Evansville, died Saturday, January 3, 2015 at her home.

Born May 18, 1931 in Woodworth, North Dakota, Betty Lou Bah lived on a small farm in rural North Dakota until her family moved to Evansville, Minnesota. She grew up and lived most of her life in Evansville, except for a ten year period when she lived in Southern California. During that time she married B. Ernest Burchfield and worked as an Executive Secretary to a Mobil Oil Company Vice President. Ernie died in a tragic accident in 1959, which was a devastating blow to this 28 year old woman. Ernie and Betty Lou had one child, Beth.

Betty Lou returned to Evansville in 1964 to care for her father who was critically injured in a car accident. A few years later she married Willard Olson and moved to his farm in rural Evansville. Willard and Betty Lou had one child, Eric.

Betty Lou graduated Class Valedictorian from Evansville High School in 1949. She graduated from St. Cloud Teacher's College in 1951 earning a Teaching Degree/Certificate and from the University of Minnesota in 1979 earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications. She worked for many years for Douglas County in the Department of Human Services.

Betty Lou's greatest joy in life was spending time with her two grandchildren, Bryan and Zoe. She was a very proud grandma.

Betty Lou died on January 3, 2015 after a short battle with lung cancer.

Surviving are her children Beth Burchfield Nelson and husband Tom, Eric Olson and wife Beverly and two grandchildren Bryan Nelson and Zoe Olson.

Visitation: 4 - 7 PM Wednesday, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Evansville, and one hour prior to services at the church

Funeral Service: 2 PM Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Faith Lutheran Church in Evansville

Interment: Mound Grove Cemetery, Evansville
