Beth Ellen Haavig, 40, of Fergus Falls, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with ALS.
A visitation in Beth’s honor will be Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 2p-5p at Glende Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Beth’s funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday February 3, 2026, at First Lutheran Church of Britton in Britton, South Dakota.
Beth Ellen Marlow was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to Jerome Marlow and Shelley Stiegelmeier on July 2, 1985. She attended school in Britton, where she participated in cheerleading and swim team. After graduation, Beth went to spread her wings and moved to Fargo, then eventually Washington D.C. While in Fargo, Beth was blessed with her only child, Eve.
In 2021, Beth and Eve moved to Fergus Falls, Minnesota, where she met Ken Haavig. The couple became engaged in 2023 and married in 2024.
Beth was a very outgoing person who embraced excitement in all encounters. Her joy could be seen through her huge smile and laugh. Beth was known to have a heart of gold and always put everyone first. Helping friends with cosmetics, crafting, baking, and watching crime tv shows are just to name a few of her hobbies. She was happiest when she was outdoors- participating in summer sports leagues, taking out the kayak, camping, or attending her brother’s racing events in Aberdeen. Beth’s craftiness helped her open her own personalized t-shirt and cup business. She took her skills to the next level and designed the graphics for her brother’s race car, bringing awareness to ALS.
In December 2023, Beth was diagnosed with ALS. Beth fought hard and loved harder.
Beth is survived by her husband, Ken; daughter, Eve Deng; parents, Shelley and Don Cease; father, Jerome Marlow; brothers, Christopher Cease, Eric (Nicole) Cease, Aaron (Molly) Cease; father-in-law, Alan Haavig; bonus daughters, Emma Haavig, Isabel Haavig; brothers-in-law, Mike Haavig, Christopher Haavig; 14 nieces and nephews; and her special furry friends, Milo, Jak, and Mitzy; and numerous aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rodney and Mary Stiegelemeier, Darlene Christianson, Norman Marlow, mother-in-law, Varlerie Haavig, and special cousin, Christine Lammers.
