Arlene Kirkvold

Arlene Kirkvold, 88 of Fergus Falls died Sunday, October 16, 2011 at the Pioneer Care Center.

Arlene Mae Kirkvold was born on October 17, 1922 in Valley City, North Dakota the daughter of Clyde and Lillie (VanVleet) Stull. As a child she moved with her family to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and attended school in Detroit Lakes.

She and Harold Ryen were married in November of 1950 and were later divorced. Arlene and Clarence Kirkvold were married in June of 1961 and after their marriage they moved to a farm south of Battle Lake. In 1975 they moved to a home in Fergus Falls, Clarence died in March of 1976. Arlene had worked for Swift & Co. Turkey Plant in Detroit Lakes for twenty-five years, then with the Graystone Hotel for five years and after marrying Clarence she was a homemaker in the home. She enjoyed bingo, reading, watching t.v. and visiting with friends and family.

Arlene is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Bruce) Brockopp of Alexandria; two sons, Floyd (Lora) Kirkvold of Iroquois, S.D. and Harold Kirkvold of Florence, Co.; four grandchildren, Kristie, Cory, Cody and Amber (Michael); three great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Karisa and Cacie; two sisters, Dorothy Billings of Perham and Vivian Martinson of Detroit Lakes and by numerous relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Lillie Stull; Husband, Clarence Kirkvold; one granddaughter, Melanie; one brother, Clyde Stull Jr.; and by two sisters, Shirley Franea and Mildred Bratlie.

Private Graveside Service: 2 pm, Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the First Lutheran Cemetery in Battle Lake
