Amanda Rebekah Stueve was born on April 20, 1924, the daughter of Dick and Marie (Eckhoff) Stueve on her parents' farm in a log home, in Henning Township by Henning, Minnesota. Together they lived in Florence, Montana, Clear Lake, Iowa and then Cottage Grove, Minnesota. In 1974, they moved to their farm between Battle Lake and Ashby. It was at that time they joined the Grue Lutheran Church. Amanda worked in various restaurants in her life and retired as a cook from the Pelican Lake Nursing Home in Ashby.
