Allen 'Al' Olson

Allen W. “Al” Olson, 72 of rural Ashby, MN passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 at the St Cloud Hospital.

Allen Wayne was born on October 8, 1944 in Fergus Falls, MN, the son of Orlan and Ethel (Rohloff) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. Al graduated from Evansville High School in 1962. After high school he attended trade school to become a Journeyman Electrician. Al was a strong union man and on February 1, 1967, he became a member of IBEW Local 294 in Hibbing, MN.

On February 4, 1978, Al married Beverly Buse at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Garfield. Al and Bev lived in Bemidji for a short time after their marriage, until the opportunity arose to move back to the Olson family farmstead and raise their children. They were blessed with 3 children; Danny, Diana, and David. Al worked many years on the road for his career as a Journeyman Electrician. At the age of 57, Al retired to spend more time with his family and friends.

Al enjoyed hunting, fishing, and had a soft spot for animals including his dogs and chickens. Al and Bev enjoyed many cruises throughout the Caribbean together. He was a caring, loving person that would be a true friend to anyone. Al spent many days driving in town and visiting all he may or may not know. Allen loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandkids whom he spoiled every chance he got. He was a member of the Erdahl Lutheran Church until it closed. Al was a Sunday School teacher and member of the church council for many years.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Orlan and Ethel Olson.

Al is survived by his wife, Beverly K. Olson of rural Ashby; three children, Danny Olson of rural Ashby, Diana Olson of Evansville, and David (Jenni) Olson of Evansville; five grandchildren, Spencer, Betty Lou, Danni, Eva, and Treyton; three siblings, Richard “Dick” (Mona) Olson of Evansville, Ron (Susan) Olson of Evansville, and Elaine (Lydon) Olson of Ashby/Nevada; along with numerous family and friends.

Al will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Blessed be the memory of Allen W. Olson.

Visitation: Friday, September 15, 2017, from 5-7pm, with a 6:30 prayer service at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Evansville and continuing one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial Service: 11:00am, Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Faith Lutheran Church in Evansville.
