Allen D. Grohn, age 82, of Fergus Falls, MN, passed away at his home on Friday, August 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

Born on August 27, 1942, in Graceville, MN, Allen was the son of Donald & Alice (Hallstein) Grohn. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton MN, where his faith was nurtured throughout his life. A proud alumnus of Wheaton High School, Al continued his education at Concordia University in Seward Nebraska, earning his bachelor’s degree in education, followed by a Master’s in School Administration from Michigan State University.

On August 19, 1962 he married his beloved wife. Gloria Jean Kuehn, at Zion Lutheran Church in Olivia, MN. Their union was a testament to love, partnership and family. Over his career in education he taught at Trinity Lutheran School, Roselle Illinois, and First Lutheran School in La Crosse WI before serving as principal at Salem Lutheran School in Owosso, MI. He eventually returned to the family farm in Wheaton to manage it after his mother’s passing, demonstrating his commitment to family & heritage.

Allen’s professional journey didn’t end with teaching; he worked for over 25 years with Aid Association for Lutherans, now known as Thrivent, until his retirement due a heart condition. In addition to his professional accomplishments, music was a significant part of Al’s life. He sang and directed multiple choirs including being a member of Bethel’s Church Choir. He was a proud member of the Heart O Lakes A Cappella Men’s Chorus. His faith led him to be an active member of Bethel Church in Fergus Falls.

A devoted husband & father, Allen reveled in watching his children and local youths excel in sports. He found joy in fishing, gardening and participating in his Bible Study Fellowship.He leaves behind a rich legacy marked by love, laughter and un wavering faith.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Alice Grohn, stepmother, Margaret and his beloved son Scott Grohn. He is survived by his devoted wife, Gloria Grohn of Fergus Falls; three daughters, Brenda (Ted) Haar of Alexandria MN, Christine (Todd) Lauzon of Grand Forks ND and Susan (Marc) Beck of Anchorage AK; 11 grandchildren, Mandy (Brett) Johnson, Ryan (Ashley) Haar Alli Haar, Conner (Katie) Lauzon, Erica (Max) Blosser, Riley Lauzon, Andrew Beck, Charlie Beck, & Henry Beck, Emilee (Sam) Blackstone and Rachael Grohn & nine great grandchildren, Cooper, Maryn & Laken Haar, Eleanor & Jameson Johnson, Ayla, Grant & Miles Blackstone & Levi Lauzon. He also leaves behind two brothers, Dennis(Jeanne) Grohn of Sioux City IA, Bruce (Ruth) Grohn of Scio, OR & a brother in law, Daryl (Mona) Kuehn of Echo MN. along with numerous family & friends who cherished him dearly.

A heartfelt expression of gratitude goes to the staff at Abbott Northwestern Hospital & the Holmes Heart Hospital, who provided Allen with 26 years of care, as well as the dedicated teams at Lake Region Hospital and VIVIE Hospice.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Bethel Church in Fergus Falls, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Interment: Oak Grove Cemetery, Fergus Falls, MN
