Louise Arvesen, 101 of Battle Lake died Friday, July 13, 2018, at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Society.
Louise Garnaas Arvesen was born on November 17, 1916, in Oberon, North Dakota the daughter of Olaf and Viola (Myrtle) Garnaas. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, graduated from the Oberon High School in 1938, and then furthered her education at St. Olaf College in Northfield graduating with a Home Economics Degree.
Louise and Norman Arvesen were married on September 28, 1940, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They resided in Fergus Falls until August of 1962, at which time they moved to Battle Lake. Louise enjoyed golf, reading, cooking, playing bridge and the Progressive Club. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church, and during her life was a very busy woman. Louise and Norman traveled to Norway during their retirement years.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Joseph) Jacob of Fargo; grandson, John (Darla) Arvesen of Kansas City, Kansas; three great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and by numerous relatives and friends. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; son Richard Norman Arvesen; and siblings, Marge, Bud, Bill and Ness.
Memorial Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Battle Lake.
Visitation: one hour prior to the service.
Interment: Oak Lawn Cemetery in Northfield, MN
