Janice Preitauer, age 81, of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, December 25, 2019, in her home in Fergus Falls under the care of Lakeland Hospice.
Janice Kay Christenson was born March 6, 1938 to Arthur and Violette (Nohe) Christenson in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She graduated from Henning High School. Following graduation, she worked in Minneapolis at Honeywell and Archer Daniels Midland (ADM).
On June 17, 1961, she married Edwin Martin Preitauer at the First Baptist Church in Henning.
Jan and Edwin moved to Fergus Falls, where she was employed at Norwest Bank and OtterTail Power Company.
Janice was a member of the Calvary Free Lutheran Church of Fergus where she served in various offices, taught Wednesday and Sunday School, served as treasurer and president of Calvary WMF, and deaconess. She was the National Treasurer of the AFLC Women’s Missionary Federation.
Her interests included sewing, cooking, reading, gardening, and traveling with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Violette; and her husband, Edwin.
She is survived by a brother, Jack (Terry) Christenson of White Bear Lake, MN; a sister-in-law, Leona Kelly of Two Harbors, MN; her beloved dog, Sugar; nieces and nephews, Justin (Carla) Christenson, Josh Christenson, Jason (Amanda) Christenson, Sarah (Alex) Hill, Andrew Peterson, and Lenora Zimba; great nieces and nephews, Logan, Lily, Jack, Makena, Macie, Ally, Devin, Tim, and John; and a host of friends.
Memorial Service: 2:00 PM Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Calvary Free Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls, with visitation one hour prior to services at the church.
