Alice Hanson, 97, of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the Woodland Lodge.
She was born March 14, 1922 in Fergus Falls to Anton and Thora (Bratten) Boen. She grew up and attended school in Fergus Falls graduating from Fergus Falls High School in 1941. On January 10, 1942, she was united in marriage to Norman (Nummy) Hanson. The couple made their home in Buse Township where they raised six children. Alice was active in the Augustana Lutheran Church, the ladies’ circles and the Augustana Quilters.
As a teen, Alice enjoyed roller skating around town and singing at the radio station during amateur hour. She also played the concertina and harmonica. She was a loving mother, masterful baker and cook, seamstress, gardener and caregiver to her mother. She was also known as the “local” barber for surrounding farm families and friends. She always provided coffee and treats and lots of conversation. Alice was fortunate to visit Norway where her parents were from and England. After Norm’s death, she lived at the River Bend Apartments since 2006 where she enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her friends. She especially loved playing Skip-Bo with her family.
Alice is survived by her children: Douglas (Sue Diebner) Hanson, Dianne (Larry Wieser) Hanson, Darnell (Allan) Hancock, Judy (Paul) McClish, Joyce (Robert Banks) Randklev and Virginia (Jim) Hanson; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Norman and a son-in-law, Owen Randklev.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church
