Wayne Scheer

February 16, 1944 — January 15, 2011

Wayne Scheer, 66, of rural Clitherall died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls .





Wayne William Scheer was born on February 16, 1944, in Bazille Mills , Nebraska the son of Arnold and Martha (Suhr) Scheer.   He was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Creighton , Nebraska and confirmed in the First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake , Minnesota .   He attended school in Creighton and in 1957, when he was 13, he moved with his parents to their farm by Clitherall. Wayne graduated from the Battle Lake High School in 1962.





Wayne and Shelly Burau were married on April 18, 1964, in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls , Minnesota by Pastor Knick.   After their marriage they moved to the Scheer Farm where they dairy farmed, raised hogs and grain farmed.   He enjoyed snowmobiling.   He traveled west with his family to ride snowmobile in the mountains.   He took pride in restoring his John Deere tractors which he drove in parades and also liked participating in tractor pulls. Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and especially loved his time with his grandchildren.   He was a man with a “Big Heart”.   He was a member of the Nidaros Lutheran Church and was active with the National Farmers Organization. Wayne enjoyed farming, his livestock and farmed on the family farm until his retirement in 2003.





He is survived by his wife, Shelly; three children, Jill (Jay) Jensen of Battle Lake,



Jeff Scheer of Clitherall and Joyelle (Dan) Hill of  Battle Lake; six grandchildren, Erika, Matt, Andrew, Kaden, Jarren and Breeynn.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Martha Scheer and by one sister, JoAnn Scheer.





Funeral Service: 11 am Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Nidaros Lutheran Church , rural Clitherall.





Visitation: Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm with a Prayer Service at 7 pm at the Funeral Home in Battle Lake and one hour prior to the service at the church.





Clergy: Rev. Carl Andersen





Interment: Nidaros Lutheran Cemetery
