Wayne Myrvik, 72, of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, February 7, 2015, at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Society, after a long battle with COPD.
Wayne Earl Myrvik was born on August 20, 1942 in Devils Lake, North Dakota, the son of Clarence and Ruth (Anderson) Myrvik. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Hans Lutheran Church in Edmore, North Dakota and went on to receive his education at Highland Township Country School in Edmore, graduating from Oak Grove Lutheran High School in Fargo. Wayne attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis, graduating in 1964.
On June 12, 1965, Wayne married Karen Ann Johnson at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rockford, Illinois.
Wayne entered the United States Army during the Vietnam War, serving from 1966 to 1968 and was stationed in Thailand.
Wayne and Karen lived in Minneapolis, where he was a special education teacher for many years. They later moved to Phoenix, Arizona for a few years, and Wayne was involved in real estate, though the family eventually returned to Minnesota, settling in Fergus Falls. Wayne worked locally at National Bushing, Productive Alternatives and Victor Lundeen Co., retiring in 2007.
In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed gardening, spending time in northern Minnesota, especially the Ely area, reading, enjoyed driving around the Midwest, and taking life easy. He was a member of the Daybreakers and Elizabeth Lions Clubs; and was a member of the Master Gardeners of West OtterTail County.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Karen of Fergus Falls; two children, Amy (Chris) Roseen of Minneapolis and John Myrvik of Fergus Falls; and one granddaughter, Darien Kelly Woller.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
