Virgil Jacklitch

March 15, 1928 — July 9, 2013

Virgil Jacklitch, 85 of Battle Lake died Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the Sanford Health in Fargo.

Virgil Donald Jacklitch was born on March 15, 1928 to Earnest and Verna (Novak) Jacklitch in Taylor Township, Traverse County, Minnesota. He graduated from Campbell High School in 1946. In his earlier years, he was a great athlete, participating in baseball, football and basketball.

Virgil and his wife, Jeannine resided on Ottertail Lake after retiring from a successful farming career in Campbell, MN. Beyond farming, Virgil had many interests and devotions. He was a dedicated father, grandfather & great-grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, card playing, hunting, watching sports and spending time with his family. Virgil was also an active member of the local Ottertail City Lions Association for many years as well as the Ottertail Lake Association.

Although Virgil lived with several serious illnesses including rheumatoid arthritis during part of his lifetime, he rarely allowed the pain to alter his positive outlook in life. Virgil garnered many friends throughout his lifetime and was a faithful friend to many.

Prior to moving to Battle Lake, they enjoyed spending their winters in Mesa, AZ. Jeannine passed away June 17, 2009. Virgil lived in the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Assisted Living Complex for four years.

He is survived by his 4 daughters, Jennifer (Robert) Oschwald, Mary (Mike) McGillivray, Laurie Jacklitch and Jill (Robert) Anderson; grandchildren: Ann Oschwald, Zachary Oschwald, Erin Cahoy, Kirstin Olson, Jami Huss and Megan Fink; and by relatives and friends.
