Verna Robison, 96 of Ashby died Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the Bethany Home in Alexandria.

Verna Elvina Robison was born on June 21, 1917 in St. Olaf Township, rural Ashby, Minnesota the daughter of John and Carrie (Knutson) Salvevold. She was baptized and confirmed in the Bethel Lutheran Church and attended Country School District #2.

Verna and Eugene W. Robison were married on June 4, 1939 in the Bethel Lutheran Church by Pastor Blikstad. After their marriage they lived on a farm by Ashby and farmed on the Robison home farm. She worked beside her husband farming, milking their Jersey dairy herd along with working in the fields. She had her own John Deere tractor. Verna had a large garden, she enjoyed quilting, animals and loved children and in her retirement years she did a lot of volunteer work at the Ashby Senior Center. Verna was a lifetime member of the Bethel Lutheran Church and was active with the Ladies Aid. She had been a member of the St. Olaf Homemakers Group, spent many years involved with 4-H and had been a 4-H club leader.

She is survived by one daughter, Kathryn Robison Hart of Garfield; three grandchildren, Christopher (Susan) Robison of California, Renae (Aaron) Klemm of California and Theresa Frickey of Idaho; two great-grandchildren, Cooper Klemm and Megan Frickey; nieces and nephews, Mary Lou Schlefsky, Shirley Doering, Roger Huggett, Glen Erickson, Edith Andrews, Betty Knutson, Margaret Koplin; numerous relatives and friends. Verna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene Walter Robison; two sons, Walter John Robison and Eugene Vernon Robison; two sisters, Ethel Erickson and Bernice Croft.

Funeral Service: 2:00 pm Monday, October 14, 2013 at the Bethel Lutheran Church, rural Battle Lake
Visitation: Sunday from 2 pm to 6 pm with a 4:30 pm Prayer Service at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Ashby and one hour prior to the service.
