Sharon Henneman

March 12, 1943 — February 21, 2017

Sharon (La Valleur) Henneman, 73, of Evansville, departed this earth from sudden cardiac death on Tuesday, February 21, at St. Cloud Hospital.

Sharon Kay was born on March 12, 1943, the daughter of John (Bud) and Elva La Valleur, Ashby, MN. She grew up on a farm north of Ashby and attended Ashby Public Schools, moving to Battle Lake in 1960, where she graduated from high school the following year. She attended Moorhead State College now Minnesota State University, Moorhead and the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis majoring in photojournalism.

She moved to California and then Washington state where she married Larry Sweeney in 1966 and later divorced. They had two children, Michael and Shannon.

Sharon and Donald Henneman were married on Valentine's Day 1973 near Eagle Lake and made their home in rural Evansville for the rest of their 44 years together. They had two sons, David and Dan and Don adopted Michael and Shannon.

Sharon was passionate about family - her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and all of her family -whether related by blood or not. But it was her love of God that defined Sharon. She was a life-long learner, consuming thousands of books often reading several at one time. She taught The Word and Bible 101 to hundreds and could quote countless Bible verses by heart. She was the foundering editor of The Proclaimer, a local Christian newspaper.

She also taught at LifeRight, Destiny Church School of Ministry, ministered to single mothers, did prison ministry and was a mentor, spiritual guide and Grandma to countless people. In her early years, Sharon was professionally trained as a clown. After she was born again, her clowning became about engaging people in the Gospel.

A consummate entrepreneur, she relished the roles of wife and mother as much as she did being a business woman. The Henneman's farmed and milked dairy cows for many years before starting a home care business for adults.

Sharon loved spending time at La Farm, the family retreat of the La Valleur Sisters near Ashby. She participated in mission trips to the Ukraine, Arctic Circle and Jamaica. In addition to singing, she enjoyed playing her autoharp and playing cards, especially Hand and Foot. She combined her life-long love of horses and ministry to make special connections with youth.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Don Henneman, Evansville; son, Michael Henneman, Robbinsdale, MN; daughter, Shannon Henneman, Milton, FL; sons David (Necoe) Henneman and Dan Henneman, all Evansville; three sisters, Dr. June (Dr. Duane Rost) La Valleur, Little Spirit Lake, MN; Barbara (Arnie Bigbee) La Valleur, Edina, MN; Claudia (David) Carson, Ashby, MN; 12 grand-children, 3 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends around the country.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and step-father Loyd Evander; her son, Brian Eaton and granddaughter, Rhiley Joy Henneman. Sharon's last act of giving was as an organ donor.
