Ruth Brown, 82, died on Monday, October 27, 2014 at her home in Evansville, MN.
She was born on February 13, 1932 to Alessandro and Maria (Sbrocchi) Longiotti on a farm outside Hartstown, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Jamestown High School, PA in 1950. After graduation, she joined the United States Air Force. While serving at the Pentagon she met her husband of sixty-one years, Wendell Brown.
Ruth and Wendell were married on October 17, 1953 at Fort Myer, Virginia. They were blessed with five children. While Wendell was serving in the Air Force, the family lived in Louisiana, Utah, California, Minnesota, Tennessee, and Florida. The two most important things to Ruth were her faith in God and her love of family. She had a servant's heart, and volunteered many hours in community service and church ministry. She was fondly known as the "card lady" because she always remembered to send cards for birthdays, anniversaries and other occasions. Her most important ministry, though, was the hours she spent faithfully in prayer for family, friends, missionaries and the world. Ruth enjoyed gardening, reading, cross word & jigsaw puzzles, spending time with family, camping, and road tripping with Wendell.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Wendell; five children and spouses: Wendy Sather of Evanston, WY, Mark (Tami) Brown of Hamel, MN, Natalie (Joel) Hanson of Bloomington, MN, Carrie (John) Hanson of Evansville, MN, and Gary (Clare) Brown of Saint Paul, MN; thirteen grandchildren and spouses; twenty-six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her siblings: Josephine Wilson of TX, Peter (Carmel) Longiotti of Greenville, PA, Rose Brocklehurst, Meadville, PA, Theresa Longiotti of Myrtle Beach, SC, Natalie (Fred) Knop of Aurora, Ohio; sister-in-law Peg Longiotti of Greenville, PA; and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and in-laws: Frank (Leona) Longiotti, Florence (Maurice) Girardeau, Mary (Jim) Radicella, and John Longiotti.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Douglas County.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Douglas County staff and volunteers for their wonderful, loving care and compassion given to Ruth.
