Roy Peasley

June 13, 1927 — July 23, 2016

Roy was born on June 13, 1927, in Erhard, MN, the son of Ralph and Emma (Nelson) Peasley. He attended School District #145 in Maplewood.

In February of 1949, he married Verna Saunders in Pelican Rapids. Roy worked at Great Northern Railroad for 3 years. Roy was an excellent, detailed carpenter who took pride in his work. He worked as a carpenter for 38 years at such places as Veron Jensen for 6 years, Miller Brothers for 20 years, Ed Schmidth for 2 years and Pete Pedersen for 10 years. He was a member of Maplewood Lutheran Church and the National Rifle Association.

His hobbies included deer hunting, fishing and carving his own spearing decoys. Roy loved to listen to country music, especially Johnny Cash and enjoyed collecting guns and gunsmithing.

On Saturday, July 23, 2016, Roy passed away at the Pelican Valley Health Center in Pelican Rapids.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Emma; two infant children; a brother, James Peasley and brother and sisters-in law, David and LaVerne Peasley and Myrna Saunders.

Roy is survived by his wife, Verna Peasley of Pelican Rapids; a daughter, Verlynne (Rick) Braton and a son, Ernest (Connie) Peasley both of Barnesville, MN; one brother, Lloyd (Rosalie) Peasley of Battle Lake, MN, sisters-in-law, Iona and Anita Saunders; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
