Roy Combs

January 26, 1943 — October 24, 2015

Roy Morris Combs Jr., age 72, of Fergus Falls MN, passed away on October 24th, 2015 at 12:00 p.m., while in care of the skilled nursing staff at the PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls, MN. Surrounded by his family, he succumbed to his brief battle with aggressive cancer peacefully.

Roy was born in Dawagiac, Michigan on January 26th, 1943 to Roy and Helen Combs. He was lovingly raised by Connie and August Slock (aunt and uncle) on a farm outside of Owen Wisconsin. At age 18, Roy joined the army and served his country in Korea until the age of 21.

Roy married Dorene Wiegel on July 30th, 1966 in Medford Wisconsin. Roy and Dorene resided in Stevens Point Wisconsin where Roy worked in Sales for University Ford. After 5 years, Roy and family relocated to Minnesota and he began his career in over-the-road trucking. Roy drove for 25 years. Roy semi-retired but continued to work in the oil fields of North Dakota until 2013.

Roy enjoyed everything "outdoors". From camping, fishing to hunting, his love for outdoor activities was his true passion. Roy's hobbies included collecting, restoring and dealing in antique sporting goods as well as watching his beloved Green Bay Packers during football season. Auctions and sporting shows were some of his favourite past times, and Roy thoroughly enjoyed the hunt for the next antique treasure. Roy spent much of his free time in his favorite basement chair, next to his workbench fiddling with antique fishing reels, baits and tackles.

Roy is survived by his wife Dorene; son Steven and wife Cheryl, son Jon and wife Jennifer, daughter Kristin and husband Charles Morel and son Daniel and wife Sarah. Roy had seven grandchildren - grandsons, Tanner, Taylor, Zachary, Brady, Jacob, Andrew and granddaughter Peyton.

Roy will be forever in our hearts as a loved husband, father and grandfather.
