Rosamond Hochstein, 92 of Battle Lake died Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.

Rosie was born January 4, 1922 in Lakefield, MN to Minnie and Paul Wedeking. She graduated from high school in Lakefield and worked at the Jackson County Soil Conservation Service. She attended the University of Minnesota and ushered at Northrup Auditorium for the many musical events. She married Leonard Hochstein and they made their home in St. Louis Park where they raised their family of five children. Rosie was active in the Garden Club and Westwood Lutheran Church.

She loved camping, waterskiing and downhill skiing with her family. In 1971, they bought Arbor Resort and moved to Battle Lake. After Leonard passed in 1994 she continued to run the resort and retired in 1999. Rosie continued to spend winters in Harlingen, Texas for a total of 27 years. She volunteered for the childrens reading program in Texas for 27 years. She loved square dancing, clogging, swimming, water sports, gardening, traveling and socializing with family and friends. She maintained a continual and persistent interest in acquiring and developing new skills, interests and opinions. She remembered the names of those she met and learned from them all. Rosie was first and foremost a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family is ever grateful to her for bequeathing to us her vibrant zest for living and appreciation of beauty. We will remember her bright blue twinkling eyes and a beautiful smile that comes from a life lived well.

Rosie is survived by her five children: Roxanne (Dan), Thomas, Richard (Annette), Peter (Dawna), and Susan (Brian), 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
