Roger Lundquist

March 19, 1939 — June 25, 2014

Roger Lundquist, 85 of rural Battle Lake died Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.
Roger Glende Lundquist was born on March 19, 1929 at home in Everts Township, the son of Edwin and Altine (Glende) Lundquist. He was baptized and then on June 20, 1943 confirmed in the Skibtvedt Lutheran Church. Roger attended Rural School District #45 in Everts Township, and then graduated from the Battle Lake High School in 1947. He was in the U.S. Army from January 1954 until December of 1955, serving in Korea during the Korean War.

On August 16, 1963 Roger and Mary Allen were married in New York Mills by Rev. Irwin Brandjord. After their marriage they lived on the Lundquist Farm in Everts Township, where Roger farmed a lifetime with his family.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church where he had served on the Church Board and the American Legion both of Battle Lake. He had also served on the Battle Lake School Board. Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and spending time with his family.

Roger is survived by his wife, Mary; two children, Michelle (Mark) Lachowitzer and Allen (Debrah) Lundquist both of Battle Lake; six grandchildren, Craig, Luke and Thomas Lachowitzer and Samantha, Melody and Emmie Lundquist; one brother, Eugene Lundquist of Battle Lake; one sister, Arlene Lundquist of Battle Lake; three sisters-in-law, Harriett Lundquist of Battle Lake, Lois (Irwin) Brandjord of Sheridan, WY and Corrine (Bruce) Johnson of Battle Lake; two nieces, Mary Beth (Michael) Evers and Amy (Justin) Shaw; six nephews, Peter (Cindy) and Eric (Danae) Brandjord, Jon (Julie), Jeff (Stacey), Brian (Cheri) and Ron (Leah) Lundquist; and by numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Altine Lundquist and one brother, James Lundquist.

Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Monday, June 30, 2014 at the First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake

Visitation: Sunday from 4 to 7 pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30 pm at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Battle Lake and one hour prior to the service at the church.
