Roger Bengtson

November 22, 1954 — June 3, 2014

Roger Bengtson, 59 of Battle Lake died Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at his home under the care of Lakeland Hospice.

Roger Alan Bengtson was born on November 22, 1954 the son of Roy and Romayne (Gaarsland) Bengtson. He was baptized in May of 1955 and confirmed in March of 1969 in the Eagle Lake Lutheran Church of rural Battle Lake. Roger graduated from the Battle Lake High School in 1972, then continued his education at the Brainerd Technical Institute, graduating in 1973 with a Small Engine Repair Certificate.

Roger and Pam (Priem) Bengtson were married in December of 2000 in Sisseton, South Dakota. He was a lifelong resident of Battle Lake, and after their marriage they lived in their home in Battle Lake.

Roger started with the Overhead Door Company of Fergus Falls in 1978, and became a partner in 2006. He liked hunting, traveling, golfing and spoiling his dogs. Roger enjoyed his family and was especially proud of his granddaughters, Charlotte and Avery. Roger appreciated all of his lifetime friends and was very appreciative of all the good times.

In lieu of flowers donations preferred to the Fergus Falls Cancer Care and Research Center or the Lakeland Hospice.

Roger is survived by his wife, Pam; three children, Timothy (Erica) Bengtson and Charlotte and Jamie Bengtson and Averie all of Fergus Falls and Kaitlin Priem of Moorhead; three sisters, Bonnie (Paul) Mantei of Cannon Falls, Barb (Cal) Kraning of Battle Lake and Rebecca (Norm) Luhning of Fergus Falls; and by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Romayne Bengtson and a nephew, Mark Quast.

Visitation: Friday, June 6, 2014 from 5 to 7 pm at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Battle Lake, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Sportsmens Bar in Clitherall.
