Robert Bjornstad, age 79, of Battle Lake, MN, stepped into heaven, surrounded by family, Thursday, January 30, 2014, at the Sanford Health Hospital in Fargo, ND. In July, 2013, Robert was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome.

Robert Dale Bjornstad, was born on March 6, 1934, Richville, MN, son of Henry and Gertrude (Bixby) Bjornstad. During his early years, as a child, Robert was introduced to the ministry of Basswood Baptist Church Robert, as a young child, was introduced to and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was then baptized in a local lake. As a member of Basswood Baptist Church, Robert's love for the Lord could be seen through the several offices he held, as well as, his participation in church activities. Robert lived to glorify God in his earthly life and now continues that at his home in heaven for all eternity. Robert attended a one room country school in Amor Township; graduated from Perham High School; then furthering his education at Northwestern Bible College, graduated in 1955. Robert met his bride, Della Ann Stewart, through the youth group at Basswood Baptist Church where they married on August 6, 1955. He was then transferred to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where he managed his own store. Robert went on to Radio Shack, a division of the Tandy Corporation where he became Canadian Western Regional Manager in Vancouver, B.C.; later being relocated to the Toronto, Ontario area. Albany, NY was his next stop as Regional Manager. Robert retired from the electronics business and became a Real Estate Agent in Corpus Christi, TX. His love of electronics brought him back to manage a McDuff Electronics store in Kansas City, KS; then officially retiring to Battle Lake, MN. Retirement was once again short lived as he went on to assist Della Ann in her gift shop. Bob enjoyed woodworking, using his John Deere tractors on their lake property and was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Della Ann; four children, Vernon Bjornstad of Coquitlam, BC, Canada, Michael (Janice) Bjornstad of Omaha, NE, Tracy (David) Bishop of Innisfil, Ontario, Canada and Jody Messer of Corpus Christi, TX; ten grandchildren, Christina (Patrick) McInnes, Kenneth (DeLacey) Bjornstad, James and Laura Bjornstad, Cassandra, Jacob, Robert and Braedon Bishop, Katherine and Kendall Messer; two great grandchildren MacKenzie and Ariel; five siblings, Elaine Konold, Willard (Elinor) Bjornstad, Mildred Skugrud, Marilyn Beikler and Howard (Virginia) Bjornstad; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
