Polly Haagenson, 67 of rural Clitherall passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Sanford Health in Fargo.
Polly Ann Haagenson was born on April 1, 1947 in Villard, Minnesota the daughter of Ellsworth and Agnes (Svobda) Bentley. She attended the Villard Public School graduating from the Villard High School in 1965.
Polly and Carl Sundheim were married on October 22, 1966. They lived in Starbuck where they owned and operated Sundheim Produce, buying and candling eggs and running a milk route in Starbuck. A son, Cal E. Sundheim was born to this marriage. Carl passed away on December 15, 1968. After Carl's death she sold the business, and then Polly and Cal moved to Minneapolis. She was employed with Nabisco (Kraft Foods) packaging hot cereal.
Polly and Alfred Haagenson Jr. were married on July 21, 1983, where they lived in their home by rural Clitherall. She worked in housekeeping at Arrowwood in Alexandria, Kenny's Candy in Parkers Prairie, the Urbank Grocery plus occasionally helping on the farm. Polly enjoyed caring for the lawn and garden. She raised geese, ducks and chickens mainly for their own use. Polly could sit on a chair in the brooder house and listen to the chicks for relaxation. She liked to cook, bake, knit, and loved attending her church. In spite of Cal's disability, he was always the bright spot in Polly's life. Cal's attitude and clever sayings always maintained Polly's sense of humor. Her son, Cal E. Sundheim was born on October 5, 1968 and passed away on March 15, 2000.
She is survived by her husband, Alfred; three sisters, Francis Dahl and Effie (Richard) Martin both of Minneapolis and Betty (Ronnie) Hvezda of Alexandria; brother-in-law, Ervin Dettler of Sauk Centre; and by numerous relatives and friends. Polly was preceded in death by her husband Carl; son, Cal; one sister, Rosemary Dettler and one brother-in-law, Russell Dahl.
Memorial Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Battle Lake Alliance Church
