Penelope "Penny" Beske, 91, of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, September 29, 2016, at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls.
Penelope was born on December 22, 1924, in Elbow Lake, Minnesota, the daughter of Alfred and Ruth (Kerncamp) Johnson. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1942 and went on to attend North Central Bible University in Minneapolis graduating in 1945. After graduation she traveled to area churches conducting children's services throughout Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. Penelope worked for the Honeywell Corporation in Minneapolis before moving back to Fergus Falls where she was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company.
Penelope and Herbert Beske eloped on November 29, 1957 they were married in the Little Brown Church by Nashua, Iowa. After her marriage she became a homemaker, but she also delivered eggs throughout the community. The couple farmed on the Beske home farm by Carlisle for thirty-three years, retiring in April of 1990. After retiring from the farm, Penny and Herb moved into Fergus Falls. Penny worked as a Senior Companion, she was active in the community delivering meals by wheels and helping organize blood drives as she loved helping others.
Penny was active in her church participating in Lutheran Women's Missionary League, was a former Sunday School Teacher and bell choir member.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Herbert.
She is survived by her three children, Deborah (Russell)Brown of Blaine and Russ's daughter Vail Brown, Daniel (Amy) Beske of Fergus Falls and David Beske of Chicago, Ill.; four grandchildren, Vanessa Brown, Erin, Janelle (fiance Connor Holt), and Kyle Beske, a sister Penna Michalczyk of Oro Valley Ariz., a brother Gordon Johnson of Evanston Ill. and numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, with visitation from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM.
