Neuman Huse

December 13, 1922 — November 8, 2014

Neuman Cameron Huse, 91, resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, North Dakota with his family at his side.

Neuman was born December 13, 1922 on his parent's farm in Tumuli Township near Dalton, MN, the son of Clifford and Miranda (Dybdahl) Huse. As a boy he learned to drive a team of horses and worked alongside his father as they put up hay, shocked grain, threshed, picked corn and cared for the dairy cattle. He attended District 7 Country School, bringing his lunch, which always included an apple, in a tin pail. Along with the other boys he helped to provide the school with water by carrying it from the neighbors.

On December 16, 1945 he was united in marriage to Harriette Island of Elbow Lake, MN and together they raised four daughters.

Neuman and Harriette began their farming career in Stoney Brook Township near Wendell with 5 heifers, the team of horses "Charlie & Buck" and some old laying hens. He soon purchased his first tractor, an F30 Farmall which was considered a "pretty big outfit" at the time. They continued farming, moving next to the Carlisle area before purchasing the farm in St. Olaf Township where they raised dairy and small grains for 46 years.

Neuman was a member of Kvam Free Lutheran Church, Dalton, and served as a trustee and on the parsonage board. He also served on the Ashby Elevator board and as St. Olaf Township Supervisor for many years.

Neuman and Harriette spent many winters in Mission, TX enjoying the "snowbird" lifestyle and a new community of friends in their RV park. In 1998, he and Harriette moved to Ashby, MN where they resided for 13 years. During this time he belonged to the Ashby Senior Citizens where he was very active making hand loomed rugs to help support the Center and volunteering in numerous other ways. He enjoyed the social activities at the Center; his favorites being whist, pool, and potluck meals. Neuman was also a regular for morning coffee with his friends at the "round table" in Ruby's Restaurant.

In 2012 he and Harriette moved to Sheridan House in Fergus Falls. Here he made many new friends; once again enjoying a coffee group, a game of whist and pool with his new buddy, Glen. Neuman was very blessed to be doing what he enjoyed until the last week of his life.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Clifford and Miranda Huse, sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Lloyd Island and brother, Forrest Huse.

Survivors include his loving wife Harriette, daughters Connie (Roger) Albertson, Fergus Falls, Linda (Jack) Risbrudt, Dalton, Cheryl (Bob) Buhr, Frazee and Denise (Mike) Albertson, Foxhome; grandchildren Kelly (Wendy) Albertson, Bryan (Jennifer) Albertson, Melanie (Joe) Klosterman, Sheila (Marty) Flatau, Shannon (Erik) Schafer, Aimee (Korey) Skovholt, Kimberly (Nathan) Porter, Lindsay (Eric) Kath; 24 great-grandchildren Ethan & Kaleb Albertson, Sydney, Gracee, Avery & Hattie Albertson, Raegan & Cooper Klosterman, Joshua & Aysia Flatau, Makena, Miles, Charlie and Willow Schafer, Abbie, Owen, Elise & Brennan Skovholt, Nicholas, Kennedy & Aidan Porter, Connor Petermann, Dylan & Maggi Kath; sister-in-law Joyce Huse, nephew John Huse, niece Courtney (Dan) Evans, and aunt Norah Hatling, Seattle, WA.
