Myrtle Whitney

Myrtle Whitney, age 95, of Clitherall, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center, Battle Lake , MN .

Myrtle Bernese Whitney was born on January 15, 1915 in rural Clitherall , Minnesota the daughter of Carl and Christine (Olson) Sandahl. She was baptized and confirmed in the Nidaros Lutheran Church and attended Country School District #155 in Nidaros Township .

Myrtle and Lawrence Aune were married in 1937 in Peoria , IL . After their marriage they lived in Peoria , Charles City, Iowa, Clitherall , MN , then moved to Georgia for a short time and in 1963 returned to Clitherall. Lawrence passed away on July 18, 1965.

In January of 1966 Myrtle married Lyle Whitney. They lived one year in Kinney , Minnesota before moving to Clitherall, where they resided until entering the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center on December 1, 2001.

A big part of Myrtle’s life was visiting with family and friends. Myrtle was a homemaker who enjoyed her family. She was close to her children and her grandkids, they all meant a lot to her.

Myrtle is survived by her daughters Debbie (Burl Olson) Aune of Crestview, FL; sons, Larry (Nell) Aune of Fort Richey, FL and Leslie Aune of Clitherall; son-in-law Mike West of Clitherall; step daughter, Cheryl (Jim) Bauck of Las Vegas, NV; step-son, Lowell (Deanna) Whitney of Perham, MN; five grandchildren, Natalie, Eric, Heath, Aaron and Travis; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death her husbands, Lawrence and Lyle; two daughters, infant Debra Ellen in 1952 and Marlene West in 1996; her parents and numerous brothers and sisters.
