Mildred Roswold, 99, of Fergus Falls died Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Pioneer Care.
She was born in Urness Township of Douglas County on November 1, 1917 to Albert and Sadie (Nelson) Roswold. She grew up in Urness Township and attended school there at District #44 with her brothers, Orville and Adrian and sister, Marcella. Later, she moved to Evansville and graduated from Evansville High School. Approximately two years later, she and her sister attended the St. Cloud School of Business for two years. After graduation they moved back to the area working different jobs, but Mildred soon became a bookkeeper for Dieseth & Co. Construction of Fergus Falls and later she worked for Soby Construction retiring at the age of 72. She often went back to the farm in Evansville helping with her elderly parents and later cooking and cleaning for her brothers on the farm while living with her sister in Fergus Falls. She also taught Sunday School at the Fryksande Church on weekends.
Mildred worked full time and was a faithful employee but she also became an accomplished oil painter. She leaves many pictures with friends and family to enjoy. She enjoyed traveling with her sister and cousins over the years. In 2010, she entered the Pioneer Care Center, being one of the first residents when they moved into the new building. The staff there soon became her family. She enjoyed her times playing Bingo, reading and was really good at trivia and was very competitive.
Mildred is survived by her Pioneer family, her friends and several distant cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Marcella (2006), her brothers, Orville (2008) and Adrian (2010).
Memorials are preferred to the Fryksande Cemetery Association.
Service: 1:30 pm, Monday, March 20 at the Pioneer Care Chapel in Fergus Falls with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial: Fryksande Cemetery – rural Evansville, MN
