Michael Montgomery, 55 of Fergus Falls passed away November 4, 2013, at his mother's home on Stalker Lake, peacefully with his family at his side.
Michael Arthur Montgomery was born on June 18, 1958 in Coburg, Germany the son of Edward and Erika (Meixner) Montgomery. At three years of age, he moved with his family to the United States living in Georgia, Massachusetts then Minnesota, living in Duluth and North St. Paul. Michael graduated from the North High School in North St. Paul in 1977. After high school he worked various jobs including Wal-Mart, the Radisson then lived many years in Elkhart, Indiana where he was employed with Classic Transportation, delivering motor homes across the country. Because of his health he had to quit work, he moved to Fergus Falls where he enjoyed friends, family and a lot of time with his mom at Stalker Lake, enjoying the golf cart rides with Mom and the King, his dog. Mike was always a hard worker and loved to travel, having stories about anywhere he had been. He enjoyed western and war movies, the outdoors, the boundary waters, was a big time fly fishing person, hunting and he liked sunny days and hot weather. He enjoyed his family and was very proud of his nieces, nephews and especially his great-niece and great-nephews. He would help and do anything for anyone in need.
Mike is survived by his mother, Erika Montgomery of Underwood; siblings, Carmen (Joe) Welch of Fergus Falls, James (Caroline) Montgomery of Fergus Falls, Peggy Montgomery of Maplewood and Eric (Gayle) Montgomery of Colorado Springs, CO.; nieces and nephews, Tony (Jesse) Welch of Menahga, Ashley (Ryan Baker) Montgomery and Jesse Montgomery all of Fergus Falls, Ashton "Jake" Montgomery of Maplewood, Cody and Bethany Terveer both of Fergus Falls; one great-niece, Addisyn and two great-nephews, Rylan and Dane; and by numerous relatives and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Edward and by two brothers, Perry and Edward Montgomery.
Mike was proud to donate his body to science with the Mayo Clinic to help with research for the good of others. Once his cremains return to the family there will be a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
Visitation: 4 pm to 6 pm with a Prayer Memorial Service at 6 pm, Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, with Fr. Alan Wielinski officiating.
