Maynard Larson, 65 of rural Clitherall died Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.
Maynard Elwood Larson was born on September 19, 1950, in Wadena, Minnesota the son of Sebert and Hjordis (Sampson) Larson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Leaf Mountain Lutheran Church and graduated from the Battle Lake High School in 1968.
Maynard and Debra Ann Spanswick were married on April 14, 1973, in the Leaf Mountain Lutheran Church. After their marriage they lived on their farm in Leaf Mountain Township. He had worked in a Salvage yard in Racine, Wisconsin, and then returned to rural Clitherall where he was with Koep's Bait, Thiel Turkey Farm, Burlington Northern Railroad, Mark Sand and Gravel Co., Dairy Farmed, Battle Lake Public School, and then was with the Chippewa Farms until his retirement. Maynard enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors. He was very mechanical and kept busy with his projects building fish houses, pickup toppers and two wheel trailers. He was an avid Minnesota sports teams fan.
He is survived by his wife, Debra; two children and two grandchildren, Melissa (Zach) Eide, Amelia and Connor of Fergus Falls and Derek Larson of Clitherall; and by numerous relatives and friends. Maynard was preceded in death by his parents, Sebert and Hjordis Larson; two brothers, Norman and Duane Larson; sister-in-law, Sharlet Larson; niece, Sherri Lawson; great-niece, Stacy Stewart; and great-nephew, Zach Fleck.
Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Monday, October 19, 2015, at Leaf Mountain Lutheran Church of rural Clitherall.
Visitation: Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Battle Lake and one hour prior to the church service on Monday.
