Marilyn Ledding, 78, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at the Broen Home.
Marilyn Yvonne Thormodson was born on July 25, 1935 in St. Olaf Township, OtterTail County, Minnesota, the daughter of Oliver and Minnie (Berger) Thormodson. She attended school at District 9 for eight years and was confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Dalton. Marilyn attended high school at Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, Minnesota.
On July 31, 1953, Marilyn married Roger Ledding at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Marilyn and Roger lived in Edinburgh, Scotland for three years, while Roger was in the Air Force. Following his discharge, the couple returned to Minnesota, where Roger began farming.
Marilyn and Roger were blessed with six children. As active parents, they were proud to have attended nearly every sporting event or school activity their children participated in. Marilyn was proud to have raised her grandchildren Michelle and Jacob like her own children, never missed one of her grandchildren's events either.
Marilyn was an active member of Aurdal Lutheran Church, where she participated in the Ladies Aid and taught Sunday School. A true farmer and homemaker, Marilyn spent much time being involved in 4H. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, canning, and enjoyed watching HGTV and The Food Channel.
Marilyn will be missed by her husband, Roger of Fergus Falls; children, Jeffrey (Peggy) of Fort Worth, Texas, Daniel (Chris) of Philpot, Kentucky, Richard (Michelle) of Hartland, MN, Jonathan Ledding of Fergus Falls, and Pam Ledding of Denver, Colorado; son-in-law, Michael Heiden of Fergus Falls; eleven grandchildren: Jennifer (Jason) Loshelder, Erin and Andrea Ledding, Alison (Jeremy) Guerra, Dan Jr. and Scott (Jolene) Ledding, Ashley, Rachel, Michelle (Philip) Kast, Jacob Ledding, and Nycole (Taylor) Larson; twelve great-grandchildren: Augustine, Nikolas, Jordan, Cameron, Vincent, Liam, Philip, Keira, Hannah, Savannah, Kaelin and Cassidy; and four siblings: Delores Wessels of Barnesville, MN, Mavis Degelman of Bradenton, Florida, Loren (Debbie) Thormodson of Dalton, and Jane Ward of Hendersonville, North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Jenyne Heiden; daughter-in-law, Kye Ok Ledding; brother and sister-in-law, Nelvin (Mildred) Thormodson; brothers-in-law, Len Ward and Norm Degelman; and an infant brother, Orren.
Memorial Service: 11 AM Friday, August 16, 2013, at Aurdal Lutheran Church, rural Fergus Falls.
Visitation: 5 – 7 PM Thursday, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, and one hour prior to services at the church.
