Lucille Sorenson-Freitag, 78, of Fergus Falls, died on Friday, November 13, 2015, at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.
Lucille was born on August 23, 1937, in rural Western Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Miller) Hensch. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Western Township, rural Fergus Falls. Lucille attended Western Township Country School and Ag School in Morris. She was a health service technician at the State Hospital, worked at Rosenblatt's, City Bakery, Sears and the Daily Journal.
On May 25, 1957, she married Gil Sorenson at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Western Township, rural Fergus Falls. They made their home in Fergus Falls and had four children, Larry, Roger, LeAnn and Ronda. On September 7, 2002, she married Marlin Freitag. They took many trips, wintering in Texas where they enjoyed all the activities and playing cards and games with friends.
Lucy's hobbies included dancing, sewing, knitting, biking, horseback riding, baking and making blankets for all her grandchildren.
Lucy is survived by her children, Larry (Geri) Sorenson of Vergas, LeAnn Sorenson (special friend, Terry Larson) of Kensington and Ronda Peterson of Garfield; 7 grandchildren, Kody (fiancé Krista Strandlien), Hunter, Tanner, Caleb, Derreck, Brooke (special friend Nick Thomasy) and Quincy; great-granddaughter, Annabelle; brothers, Ed (Pat) Hensch of rural Campbell, Donnie (Bunny) Hensch of Fargo, Allen Hensch of Clitherall and Byron (Tonya) Hensch of Battle Lake; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Sorenson and Ilene Johnson both of Ashby; brother-in-law, Jerry Freitag; daughter-in-law, Teri Thompson of Willmar; her 5 step sons and their wives, Michael & Gisele, Jeff and Nancy, Greg and Pat, Joe and Kaarina, and Matt and Dina and their families along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Anna; husbands, Gil Sorenson in 1999 and Marlin Freitag in 2015; a son, Roger and grandson, Brett.
Visitation: Wednesday, November 18 from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and will resume for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Service: Thursday, November 19 at 11:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls
