Louise Schultz

December 3, 1929 — September 8, 2016

Viola Louise Pearson was born on December 3, 1929 in Pelican Rapids, MN to Elmer and Minnie (Severson) Pearson, one of nine children. She was baptized on January 4, 1930 at Grove Lake Church north of Pelican Rapids, by Pastor Adolph Egge. Her parents owned and operated Stony Bar Resort on South Lake Lida where Louise and her siblings were raised. She attended country school #189, also known as the 'Pete Nelson' school, just off Hwy 108 (Maplewood Park), and also attended Pelican Rapids High School.

During her youth, she developed her musical skills at the piano, organ, and accordion. She played at many of the area dance places such as Spruce Lodge and Perry's, where she met her future husband, Duane Bernard Schultz.
Louise and Duane were married March 12, 1950 at the Pelican Valley Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. They moved to Duane's family farm just outside of Vergas, MN where they farmed until 1954. They then moved to Fergus Falls where they began to raise their family. Louise was a stay at home Mom, keeping the house and children in order while Duane went to work. She was wife, mother, cook, cleaner, laundry person, grocery shopper, Cub Scout den mother, chauffeur, and seamstress for the Schultz family. The door to the house was always open to others who needed a place to stay or share a meal. Mom ended up being Mom to many people in her life.

Duane passed away in April of 1983, leaving Mom wondering what to do next. She ended up doing what she had always done best: she continued by being a Grandmother by spreading her love to new grandchildren and great grandchildren. She made sure every person in her extended family received cards and gifts for every birthday, anniversary, and Christmas throughout their lives.

Mom also shared her talents by playing organ music at various businesses, nursing, and veteran's homes in the area. Even when she began losing her sight, she continued playing at The Cottages and the Broen Home. She often expressed what an honor it was to do that for them. Little did she know that the honor was theirs.

The Good Lord decided that He was short a keyboard player for the Pearson Family that already resided in Heaven. She rejoined the band on Thursday morning September 8, 2016. And Heaven hasn't been the same since.

Preceding her in death were husband Duane, son Michael, and daughter Kay; her parents, Elmer and Minnie Pearson; brothers Merle, John, and Robert; sisters Margaret, Helen, Becky, Ruth, and Eva Rae. Louise was the last of the Pearson family to leave her Earthly home.

She is survived by son Pat and Val (Hummel) Schultz from Fergus Falls; daughter in law Vicki Schultz from Underwood, MN; son Tom Schultz and friend Shari of Fergus Falls; daughter Lori (Schultz) and Jeff Hirte of Roseville, MN; son in law Joe Braun from Fergus Falls; son, Robert Schultz from Fergus Falls; and daughter-in-law, Elaine Schultz. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren: Ryan, Jamie, Derek, Katie, Steven, Jessica, Josh, Lacey, Abby, and Brittany; and fourteen great grandchildren: Emmalee, Kadin, Alexander, Kenzie, Avery, Easton, Sydney, Leo, Atleigh, Brinly, Trig, Rhett, Alexis and Kason.
