Loralee Edlund was born June 5, 1935, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Orville and Isabelle Busby (Harris). She graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1953; after graduation, she worked as a switchboard operator for the telephone company. In 1966, she attended Vera-Duane Academy of Hair Design in Minneapolis and NYC. A self-motivated, lifelong student, Loralee continued her education at the Fergus Falls Community College, graduating with honors in 1993.

Loralee married LeRoy Edlund on May 21st, 1955, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. She and LeRoy were stationed around the world during his career as a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force. During this time, Loralee enjoyed taking her kids to numerous sports activities, and maintained an active social life as a member of the Officers' Wives' Club—playing Bridge, Mahjong, golf, and coordinating fashion shows. The couple eventually retired in Battle Lake, Minn., where she owned and operated Lori's Beauty Shop, followed by Rainbow Bait and Shirt Shop, and the Battle Lake Flea Market, through the '70s and '80s.

Following the sale of their businesses, Loralee spent a number of years helping grade school kids improve math and reading skills as a Title One aide at Battle Lake School. She was passionate about helping children develop lifelong learning skills and delighted in their later life successes. Prior to retirement, she took many kids under her wings.

Loralee also enjoyed photography, developing images in a home dark room. She also enjoyed traveling (especially Hawaii), music, cooking, and scrapbooking. Above all else, she enjoyed time with her eight sisters and brothers and their families, including her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. After the death of Pee Wee, Loralee was blessed with many loyal friends in the Battle Lake area – and also kept ties with many of her military friends. She was also a volunteer at the Battle Lake Senior Citizen Center and an active member of Amor Zion Lutheran Church.

Loralee was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She will be missed by all.
