Lois Woldtvedt

January 26, 1928 — March 12, 2014

Lois Woldtvedt, 86 of Ashby died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Pioneer Care Center in Fergus Falls.

Lois Irene Akerman was born on January 26, 1928 in Grant County, on a farm north of Hoffman, Minnesota to Walter and Ruth (Endreson) Akerman. She was baptized in Immanuel Lutheran in Barrett and confirmed in Immanuel Lutheran in Evansville. Lois graduated as class valedictorian from Ashby High School in 1945.

Lois married Howard Woldtvedt on December 9, 1950. They were married for sixty years and had five children. They lived in Aurora, Brainerd and eventually settled in Ashby.

As the kids got older, Lois worked as a bookkeeper at Ashby Farmers Equity and as Activity Director at Pelican Lake Nursing Home, which she retired from because of arthritis. Lois silently endured rheumatoid arthritis since she was 25 years old.

Lois had many interests throughout the years; some things were constant and growing like love for family, friends and her Lord Jesus. Others included sewing, crafts, traveling, singing in the church choir, quilting, photography, 4-H leader, Sunday School teacher and church treasurer.

Lois is survived by her children: Marilyn (Andy) Beyer of Kent, Linda Ness of Ashby, Allen Woldtvedt of Broken Arrow, OK, Harlan Woldtvedt of Oceanside, CA and Karen Lee of Moorhead; seven grandchildren: Kevin (Jennifer) Ness, Wesley (Jill) Ness, Cody Woldtvedt, Kelsi (Shane) Woldtvedt-Pritchard, Kristin Woldtvedt, Keegan and Jeana Lee; and four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Brianna and Chloe Ness and Abel Pritchard; two sisters, Arlene Munyon of Butte, Mt. and Merle Helleckson of Fergus Falls; two brothers, Wayne (Doris) Akerman of Hibbing and Kenneth (Marilyn) Akerman of Coon Rapids; sister-in-law, Kathy Akerman of Ashby; and by numerous relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; son-in-law, Gary Ness; sister, Ione Ohren; brother, Dale Akerman; three brothers-in-law, Webster Ohren, Dale Munyon and Truman Helleckson.
