Lisa Bengtson, 44 of rural Battle Lake passed away peacefully on Friday, March 21, 2014 surrounded by family after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Lisa Kay Bengtson was born on November 2, 1969 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota the daughter of Ray Jr. and Bonnie (Salomonson) Hanson. She grew up south of Battle Lake and graduated from the Battle Lake High School in 1988.

Lisa and her high school sweetheart Craig Bengtson were married on June 11, 1988 at Faith Haven, rural Battle Lake. After their marriage they lived in Fargo for two years where Lisa worked at Bethany Homes. In 1992, they moved to Battle Lake where she was employed with the Battle Lake Good Samaritan along with attending Coles Cosmetology School, becoming a hairstylist. Lisa was with JC Penney and then self- employed with Salon Eclips, totaling eighteen years as a hairstylist. She then started with the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Society, first in dietary and then was promoted to the Lakeview Senior Living as a universal worker, serving meals, doing activities along with assisting residents with medications. She enjoyed her work and everyone she worked with.

Her hobbies included stamping, making cards for birthdays and holidays, she looked forward to going to card club every month, where she would exchange eight cards she had made. Lisa enjoyed flowers, loved spending time at the lake, fishing and sitting in the sunshine with her feet in the water. Boat rides were extra special. She loved shopping and was known for spotting those clearance signs. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She went all out in her decorating, buying and making handmade gifts for her family and friends. She enjoyed her children's activities and was honored to be Fan of the Year for wrestling. Church was important to her, was a member of the Eagle Lake Lutheran Church where she had taught Bible School and had taught Sunday School for over twelve years. Lisa enjoyed life and especially enjoyed her family.

Lisa leaves behind her husband, Craig; three children, Trista (Nathan) Francis of Fergus Falls, Aaron Bengtson and Tanya Bengtson both of Battle Lake; parents, Ray and Bonnie Hanson of Battle Lake; brother, Gene Hanson of Fergus Falls; two sisters, Tammy (Gary) Heeter of Dalton and Angie Kamrath of Fergus Falls; father and mother-in-law, Clinton and Janet Bengtson of Battle Lake; sister-in-law, Shannon (Chuck) Worum of Underwood; two brothers-in-law, Chris (Penny) Bengtson of Battle Lake and Cory (Tena) Bengtson of Omaha, Neb.; and by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Raymond and Myra Hanson, Glenn and Gladys Salomonson, Herb and Verna Bengtson and Ernest and Delphine Johnson; and brother-in-law, Curt Bengtson.

Funeral Service: 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Eagle Lake Lutheran Church of rural Battle Lake

Visitation: Monday from 5 to 7 pm at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.

Clergy: Reverend Ali Haugerud

Interment: Eagle Lake Cemetery
