Leona Lafffen

November 1, 1915 — April 1, 2010

Leona Laffen, 94 of rural Underwood away Thursday, April 1, 2010 at her daughter’s home under the care of Lakeland Hospice.





Leona Marie Heil was born November 10, 1915 at Mankato , MN to Joseph and Florentine (Prybylla) Heil. On November 21, 1936 she was united in marriage to Donald Laffen.



They moved to Minneapolis where they both worked. In 1947 they moved to Wimbledon , ND where they lived and worked until 1969 when they moved to Apple Valley , MN and worked in the school system there. In 1979 they retired to rural Underwood.





Leona was active in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church , Battle Lake ; was an expert cook, seamstress, avid fisherman and camper. She enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, quilting and upholstery. Her great love was her flower gardens.





Leona was preceded in death by her husband Donald and five siblings. She is survived by daughters Sharon (Merlin) Grinager, and Shirley Tune, both of Underwood; six grandchildren Mark, Michael, Monty and Christina (Mohr) Grinager; Ann Marie (Fleming) and David Tune; 11 great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four step-great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, godchildren and family.





She was extremely loved by all and will be sorely missed.
