LaVonne Greenquist

June 5, 1933 — January 6, 2011

LaVonne Greenquist, 77 of Fergus Falls died Thursday January 6, 2011 at Lake Region Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.





LaVonne Evavold was born June 5, 1933 in Pelican Lake Township , the oldest of six children born to Enoch and Tilda (Tobiason) Evavold.  She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashby.  She attended elementary school at Ashby and District 9, was a 4-H member, was active in church and school activities and graduated from Ashby High School in 1951.





She married Edwin Haraldson of Ashby on August 11, 1951.  They lived in Elbow Lake until 1954 when Ed purchased the Standard Bulk Service and they moved to Ashby.  LaVonne was a correspondent for the Grant County Herald, the Daily Journal and the Battle Lake Review.  They owned and operated the Standard Station and Bulk Service until 1967 when Ed became a USDA meat inspector and they moved to Detroit Lakes .  LaVonne worked at the Credit Bureau there.  They transferred to Thief River Falls in 1971 where she worked for North Star Transport and then for First Federal Savings and Loan.  Ed passed away December 9, 1989 and LaVonne moved to Fergus Falls in 1991.





She married Larry Greenquist of Fergus Falls on July 6, 1996.  They lived in Fergus Falls and spent time in Arizona during the winter.  She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Fergus Falls, and the American Legion Auxiliary.  She volunteered and served on many committees through the years and was always thinking of others.  She made numerous friends in each of the communities that she lived in and enjoyed staying in contact with them.  She was an honest, caring and loving person.  She loved her family very much.  She enjoyed people and was always ready to help.  She especially enjoyed family gatherings, taking pictures and genealogy.





She is survived by her husband, Larry of Fergus Falls, children Rebecca (Lauris) Woessner and Mark Haraldson both of Ottertail MN, Laura (Keith) Denbrook of Fergus Falls, and son-in-law Corvin Norgren of Ashby, 10 grandchildren; Kirk (Amber) Olson, Amy (Corey) Johnson, Kelly (Patrick) Galvin, Mclain and Jordan Woessner, Casey, Katie and Corey Haraldson, Sara (Gabe) Hagenbeck and Tony (Alishia) Anderson,  14 great grandchildren, two step children: Vickie (Don) Thimjohn of Omaha NE, and Gary Greenquist of Minneapolis MN, brothers Rick (Judy) Evavold of Apache Junction AZ, James (Bonita) Evavold of Ashby MN and Dan (Georgene) Evavold of Moorhead MN, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.





She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin Haraldson, daughter Barbara Norgren, siblings Mary Ellen Jensen, and Calvin Evavold, and her parents.
