Kenneth Elberling, 89, of Ashby, died Friday, September 5, 2014, at Broen Home, Fergus Falls, Minnesota
Kenneth Donovan Elberling was born on July 21, 1925 in Pelican Lake Township, the son of Carl and Gina (Veum) Elberling. He attended rural country school in Pelican Township.
On May 31, 1952, he married his wife, Gladys Stender. With her, he celebrated 62 years of marriage. In 1966, the couple adopted their only daughter, Barbara. As a man of his community, he served many years on the church council, and was the Pelican Lake Township Clerk for 40 years. Kenneth spent his days working as a farmer and lived on the family farm until 2010, when he moved to Ashby.
His hobbies included traveling, driving, spending time on the farm and with his beloved wife and family. Blessed be the memory of Kenneth Elberling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Gina; a brother, Lloyd; a sister, Gloria; and his twin brother, Kenmore.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Gladys of Ashby; daughter, Barbara Elberling of Fargo, ND; two grandchildren, Suzanne of Chicago, Illinois and Rennah of Fargo, along with numerous nieces, nephews and many family and friends.
Funeral Services: 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Peace Lutheran Church, Ashby, MN, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
Visitation: Tuesday, September 9, from 5-7 P.M., with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M. at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Ashby.
