Kelly Petersen, 46, of Underwood, died Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Sanford Health, Fargo, North Dakota.
Kelly Petersen was born August 22, 1968 to Douglas and Sharon (Mittelstadt) Balgaard in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She grew up in Fergus Falls and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1988. She attended 1 year of college in Wadena. On July 12, 1991 she was united in marriage to Doug Petersen. The couple made their home in Plano, IL. They moved to New Rockford, ND in 1996. In 1999, they moved to Wahpeton and in 2010 moved to Underwood, MN where they currently resided. Kelly worked at Dakota Clinic in Wahpeton until they moved to Underwood and then was employed by Lake Region Hospital.
Kelly enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, reading and her cats. She especially enjoyed time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Doug; daughter Kelsey (fiancé Jordan Olson) of Fargo; son, Lucas of Underwood; sister, Heidi Balgaard of Underwood; brother Shannon Balgaard of Fergus Falls; grandmother, Gladys Mittelstadt of Fergus Falls; mother-in-law, Marguerite Petersen of Fergus Falls; many brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Kelly was preceded in death by her parents, grandfather, Aaron Mittelstadt; father-in-law, Dale Petersen; and brother-in-law David Petersen.
Funeral Mass: 11 AM, Friday, February 13, 2015 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Fergus Falls
Visitation: 4-8 PM, Thursday, at Glende-Nilson
Funeral Home in Fergus Falls with a prayer service at 7 PM - and one hour prior to the service at the church
