Joseph Mies

Joseph Mies, 74 of rural Clitherall died Friday, November 16, 2012 at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls from a very aggressive lung cancer.

Joseph John Mies Jr. was born on July 5, 1938 in St. Paul, Minnesota the son of Joseph Sr. and Frances (Eberhard) Mies. He graduated from the Edison High School in north east Minneapolis in 1956. He then enlisted for four years into the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Antedum Carrier as a Boiler Tech.

Joe and Ardeen Lynch were married on October 27, 1956 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, recently celebrating their fifty-sixth wedding anniversary. After their marriage they lived in the twin city area until purchasing their home in Brooklyn Center in 1964. Joe was employed with Northern States Power Co. as a Lead Boiler Plant Manager, retiring in 1993. They built a cabin in 1968, and after retirement they moved to their Clitherall Lake home. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, fishing, watching sports and visiting with his many friends. He enjoyed his family and his grandchildren who he loved very much and also liked his three dogs, Buddy, Dolly and Sassy.

He is survived by his wife, Ardeen; one daughter, Teresa Marie Mies of Henning; four grandchildren, Daniel Joseph (Katie) Chock of Coon Rapids, Jonathan Richard Chock, Laura Elizabeth Chock, and Joshua Jerry Dale Chock all of Henning; two sisters-in-law, Nancy (Jim) Wright of Shakopee and Sue (Curt) Almquist of New Brighton; two brothers-in-law, Jim (Wendy) Lynch of Washington state and Wayne (Gay) Lynch of Plymouth; and by several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Dale Mies in 1977; parents, Joseph and Frances Mies; sister, Rita in 1982.

Funeral Mass: 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Battle Lake

Visitation: one hour prior to the Mass

Interment: Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Cemetery
