JoAnn Obe, 57 of rural Battle Lake died Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis.

JoAnn Obe was born on May 13, 1954 in Marshall, Minnesota the daughter of Joseph and Delores (Polejewski) Kiley. She was baptized, confirmed and took first communion in the St. Edward's Catholic Church in Minneota, along with attending the St. Edward's Catholic School through the eighth grade, then graduating from the Minneota High School in 1972 where she had been very active in extra curricular activities serving as a cheerleader in both St. Edward's and Minneota High School. As a youngster, JoAnn and brother Gerry kept Joe and Delores on the alert.

JoAnn and Duane "Butch" Obe were married on April 27, 1974 in the St. Edward's Catholic Church. To this marriage two children were born, Jamie and Ashley. The family lived in the Minneota area until moving to the Battle Lake area in April of 2000. JoAnn grew up with three brothers, a close family who enjoyed the lakes and after she and Butch married they continued enjoying the lakes with their children. Many evenings were spent playing cards with friends, Cindy and Steve. Hours of golfing were enjoyed with family at the Minneota Golf Course. JoAnn enjoyed many outings fishing with Butch and her brothers, and she was very active with water skiing during the summer and bowling in the winter. JoAnn was very personable; she was a great cook and loved to entertain. She was very close to her family and especially enjoyed time with Butch and her children. JoAnn had been employed with Gislason Hardware, Marshall Truss, the Minneota Golf Course and most recently with Casey's General Store in Fergus Falls.

She is survived by her husband, Butch; daughter, Jamie Obe of Fergus Falls; son, Ashley (Shannon) Obe of Brainerd; brother, Robert (Nancy) Kiley of Otter Tail Lake; sister-in-law, Vickie Kiley of Minneota; brothers and sisters-in-law, Diane (Vincent) Ness, Lonna (Rodney) Stensrud, James Obe, Susan (Ben) Pohlen, Randy (Sheree) Obe, Brian (Marge) Obe, Nadine (Dennis) Kor and LouAnn (Dan) Endries; and by numerous, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Delores Kiley; father and mother-in-law, Reuben and Peggy Obe; and by two brothers, Gerry and Rick Kiley.

Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the Lakes Area Community Center in Battle Lake.

Visitation: Friday from 4 to 7 pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30 pm at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.
