Jeannine Dunbar

June 27, 1952 — July 24, 2017

Jeannine Sattler Dunbar, 65, formerly of Dent, MN, passed away Monday, July 24, 2017, at Ecumen Bethany Community in Alexandria, MN.

Jeannine was born on June 27, 1952 to John and Jeanne Sattler. She attended West Fargo High School, graduating in 1970. She continued her education at NDSCS, St. Luke’s School of Nursing, and NDSU. Her employment years were spent as an RN at Lake Region Healthcare, Minneapolis Children’s Hospital, Park Nicollet Clinic, and Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, until 1998, when a work injury forced her into early retirement.

In her marriage to Clifford Whitman, she was blessed with the two loves of her life—her sons Paul and Jeremy, and then blessed with her grandson, Lucas. From the time she was young until death, she had been a loving caregiver to her mom and the many patients she cared for. When her son suffered a brain tumor at a young age, she continued her loving care for him. She was also caregiver to Jim Dunbar, who she remained close to until his death. Losing her son Paul in 2011 was a huge heartbreak for her, for Jeremy, and for Lucas.

She enjoyed spending time in the garden at her lake home, having campfires, going fishing, reading, and music. She loved just spending time with family and friends.
Preceding Jeannine in death are her mom and dad; a son, Paul; a sister, Anne Hawkinson; and four brothers, Charles, Eugene, Donald and Brad.

Survivors include her son, Jeremy; grandson, Lucas; brother, Greg; a daughter-in-law, Sarah Leng; many nieces, nephews, and her special West Fargo High School friends.

Thanks to the special care given by Lake Region, Essentia, Ecumen Bethany, Hospice, and Mayo Clinic; and for the love and care given by Ana, Faith, John and Jeremy.
