Jean Bohnet

Jean M. Bohnet, 62, of rural Battle Lake, MN, died Friday, December 3, 2010 at home.




Jean Mary Weiss was born in Fergus Falls, MN on August 27, 1948, the third child of Annette (Zimmerman) and Hallet Weiss of Erhard, MN. She attended school in Pelican Rapids, graduating in 1966.




She married Gary Boe of Pelican Rapids in 1970, and moved to Montana. She and her husband adopted a son, Brandon Boe, who was born on September 21, 1977.




She moved to Fargo, ND in 1980 upon a divorce, and began her working career at General Motors Credit, where she processed credit applications. She became the administrative assistant at Fargo Chamber of Commerce in 1982. Jean completed her working career with a nearly 20 year stint as executive secretary to retiring Forum Newspaper Publisher William C. Marcil, Sr. She retired from the workforce in 1999.




Jean married Charles Bohnet on October 16, 1999 at their Long Lake home near Dalton, MN in Otter Tail County.




Jean enjoyed cooking, baking, and making Scandinavian specialties such as lefsa, rosettes, and krumkake. She collected and enjoyed reading cookbooks and recipes, and nearly always had the Food Channel showing on television. She also collected pig figurines and memorabilia, and had assembled a collection of over 100 porcelain, ceramic, metal, and fabric pigs. Jean always looked forward to family get-togethers and visiting with friends.




She was preceded in death by her father, Hallet, who passed away on October 10, 1988.




Jean is survived by her husband, Charles Bohnet, son Brandon Boe, Ellensburg, WA, grandson Dylan Boe, Minneapolis, MN, mother Annette Weiss, Fergus Falls, MN, sister Diane (Eli) Purdy, Fargo, ND, brother Dave (Gina) Weiss, Fergus Falls, MN, sister Kari (Lee) Newhall, Rochester, MN, Charles' daughter Lisa (Ken) Farnham and her children Caleb and Lydia, Fargo, ND, and his son, Chris Bohnet, Minneapolis, MN, and many nieces, nephews and their spouses and children.
