Janet Kolle

February 15, 1911 — March 30, 2013

Janet Kolle, 102 of Fergus Falls died Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Broen Memorial Home.

Janet Lucille Kolle was born on February 15, 1911 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Holm and Christine (Larson) Weiby. She was baptized in the First English Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls and confirmed in the Hedemarken Lutheran Church of rural Carlisle. Janet was raised in Carlisle where her father operated a blacksmith shop. She attended the Carlisle School through the 8th grade.

On December 31, 1934 Janet married Irvin Kolle in the Lutheran Parsonage in Rothsay. They worked on a couple of farms prior to purchasing their dairy and grain farm west of Dalton. Both were interested in their neighbors and community finding many ways to use their gifts for the benefit of others. Janet was a active member of Our Savior's-Ten Mile Lake Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School for many years with great joy and devotion. Janet treasured her relationships with the women of the church through ladies aid and other service activities. Janet was happy at home in the kitchen and the garden. She was known for her welcoming table and cooking. She was an active partner with her husband in the running of the farm and lived there until shortly after his death on September 19, 1994. At that time she graciously moved into Dalton where she resided until she entered the Broen Home on October 3, 2002. Janet received attentive and kind care during her time there. For that, her family is grateful and expresses a special appreciation for the staff of 2 North and hospice.

She is survived by one son, Wayne Kolle of Elk River; niece, Paula (Ron) Staff of Minneapolis; nephew, Rodney (Arlene) Kolle of Vergas, niece, Sharon Kolle (Carol Kratzke) of Vergas, niece Vicki (Dwight) Liebelt of Grand Junction, Colorado, niece Kolleen (Gerald) Roth of Alexandria, nephew, Keith (Sheila) Norling of Alexandria, niece Brenda Johnson of Henning, niece Shelly Kolle of Henning, Niece-in-law Merle Hellickson of Fergus Falls; two grandchildren, Ernie (Melinda) Kolle of Parkers Prairie and Michelle (Byron) Driemeyer of Alexandria; four great-granddaughters, Rachel (Jeff Pappenfus) Kolle, Ashley Kolle, Emalee Driemeyer and Abby Driemeyer; a great-nephew, Kai (Shannon) Sullivan; and by numerous relatives and friends.
