James Klimek

James Klimek, age 89, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

James Philip Klimek was born on July 6, 1922, in Evansville Township, Douglas County, the son of Joseph and Mary (Loeffler) Klimek, the youngest of five children. He attended country school District #32, and graduated from Brandon High School. In his younger years, James was active in 4H along with his siblings.

James married Thelma Becker on June 28, 1951 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Urbank, MN, and they were blessed with a daughter, Beverly. After marriage, James and Thelma operated a dairy and grain farm near Evansville for most of their lives and in March of 2008, they moved into Evansville.

James especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed playing cards with friends, and was also active on a bowling team in Evansville. James was a member at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Brandon, where he was an usher and also was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Thelma and James especially enjoyed church dinners and taking Sunday drives. Family was especially important to them, and James and Thelma attended family gatherings and weddings whenever they were able.

James is survived by a daughter, Beverly (George) Dickey of Evansville; four grandchildren, Michelle (Ryan) Vipond of Aberdeen, S.D., James (Celeste) Dickey of Evansville, Michael Dickey of Evansville and Travis (Patty) Dickey of Evansville; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Rebecca Vipond and Greta Dickey; and by numerous relatives and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Thelma on August 9, 2011; and four siblings, Katherine Czech, Johanna Pehan, Philip Klimek, and Clara Bartos.

Funeral Mass: 11:00 AM Monday, April 30, 2012, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Brandon, MN

Visitation: 4 to 7 pm Sunday, with a Rosary followed by Parish Prayers at 5:30 pm at St. Ann's Catholic Church.

Clergy: Fr. LeRoy Scheierl

Interment: St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery

Funeral Home: Glende-Nilson Funeral Home of Evansville.
